History

The Dachshund Club of St. Louis was formed in January of 1932 and is affiliated with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Dachshund Club of America (DCA).

The first Sanctioned Match was held in 1935 and we received a license from the AKC to hold Specialty (for Dachshunds only) Conformation Dog Shows in 1936. We are the oldest Dachshund Club west of the Mississippi River.

Our first Field Trial was held on October 20, 1991 at the Madison County Beagle Club in Mulberry Grove, IL.

In addition to Conformation  and Field Trials, we hold AKC licenses for Sweepstakes, Junior Showmanship, Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Earthdog.

Our club boasts a member who became a President of the American Kennel Club.
